Culture chief joins Hainan activities

Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today attended the opening ceremony of a cultural and tourism exchange programme in Haikou, Hainan.

Mr Yeung noted that the programme, held by the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Film, Television, Publications & Sports this year, is a major annual event tailor-made by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism to facilitate exchanges between Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland.

He said: “The programme serves as an exchange platform for industry players in Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland.

“Through seminars, exchanges and visits, not only can representatives from Hong Kong get a better understanding of the country and its rich cultural tourism resources, industry players in the three places can also build stronger bonds and explore collaboration opportunities.”

During his visit to Haikou, Mr Yeung called on Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Film, Television, Publications & Sports Director Li Huiwei to learn more about Hainan Province’s cultural, sports and tourism development and explore co-operation opportunities.

Besides meeting Vice Minister of Culture & Tourism Lu Yingchuan, Mr Yeung also attended a seminar with the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, leaders of Hainan Province and representatives from Hong Kong and Macau to exchange views and experiences on cultural inheritance and promoting cultural tourism development.
